AOC offer Help for Heroes
All Out Catering has not only forged a strong business relationship with RAF Prestwick over the past couple of years, but also gained many friends and an appreciation for what they do.
The personnel at the Scottish Air Traffic Control Centre (Military) have quite a stressful job as you can imagine and like to let of some steam once in a while. They of course do this in a very dignified manner (well it starts off that way) and enlist All Out Catering to serve up top class food.
The RAFA Club Prestwick is often the venue of choice and always has a serious theme to the occasion; The Battle of Britain e.g. Colin who normally employs the role of Maitre d’ at these events is kept on his toes with the various customs and traditions that must be followed during the evening, whilst David has the unenviable task of producing quality food without an operational kitchen.
The success of such events led to RAF Prestwick seeking AOC’s Help for Heroes.
Help For Heroes do wonderful work for soldiers and other servicemen and women both directly and through its support of other service charities. Flight Sergeant Scott Boothroyd of RAF Prestwick and some of his colleagues decided to do what they do second best (obviously their job is first) and organise a party for the charity.
Held at Loudoun Castle theme park on Saturday August 22nd, the venue was lined up by AOC and gifted by the parks owner. David & Colin of AOC gifted their time, effort, contacts, and knowledge, as well as assisting with the event setup, and operating the bar & food outlets on the day.
A host of other businesses and individuals are owed a big thankyou for donating their time and services.
A parachuting display team and a fly over were unfortunately unable to show due to weather conditions, however guests were treated to music from Sonnet 65, the Kitty Kat Dolls, and Pop Idol Winner Michelle McManus, plus hilarity from comedian Billy Kirkwood, and an auction.
The event was a massive success; event co-ordinator Scott Boothroyd said: “We started organising a small street party which through enthusiasm from all and generous support from our sponsors has culminated in a mini-festival with all proceeds going to charity."
Currently the total raised is looking at over £10,000. Amazing!
